What we do

Soroptimist's mission is to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. In keeping with the Soroptimist mission, the Port Angeles Noon Club participates in Local, National and International programs.

Local Programs
At the local level, our club participates in multiple fundraisers, projects and programs such as:

  • Production and sales of Elegant Gourmet coupon books, our signature fundraiser which allows us to support our mission.
  • Support of Operation Uplift (a cancer support organization for the Olympic Peninsula), including an annual Golf Tournament and the new "Pink up Port Angeles" awareness and fundraising week.
  • Scholarships & Awards, including: scholarships to high school and skills center students; Star Awards (a recognition program for Juniors in High School); Woman of Distinction Award; Community Service Awards; Youth Citizenship Awards; Girls State Delegate; Business Week Delegate; and Campships.
  • Donation of supplies, furniture and playground equipment for the Rose House (a transitional living program for women and children who have left violent relationships).
  • Health programs such as preparing gift bags of toiletries for teenage girls in need.
  • Environmental projects such as the Valley Creek Estuary restoration and Port Angeles Waterfront Trail.
  • Activities promoting awareness of domestic violence.

National Programs

Soroptimist International of the Americas (“National”) is one of four organizations under the parent organization, Soroptimist International. Some of the National programs include the Live Your Dream Campaign, Workplace Campaign to End Domestic Violence, Violet Richardson Award and Making a Difference for Women Award.

International Programs

Soroptimist International, the Soroptimist parent organization, has selected a focus of awareness, advocacy and action for 2007-2011. Some of the many issues supported include violence against women, child labor, re-entry into work programs, environment protection and conservation, and educational opportunities for girls.
